Silence the stories.
Build a bulletproof mindset.
Break free from the classroom.

So… you want a job outside of teaching? One that doesn’t drain EVERY ounce of energy, and where you can actually show up for your kids (and maybe — dare I say it — for yourself on occasion too)?

Can't say I blame you.

The part where I have to talk about myself

I guess this is where I’m supposed to share my “hero story.”

Something like:

In 2021 I hit a brick wall. Burnt out. Exhausted. Lost. I had no idea where to turn… until I—

Erm no. I’m not writing that.

But here’s what I will say:

In November 2021, I left my teaching role with a then three-year-old and one-year-old - for good.

Yes,, I was burnt out and without a plan or job to go to next.

And yes, it was blinkin' hard to move on from teaching (well, to create a freelance business — but I talk more about that to my email list).

So yeah, I get what you're feeling right now. It's not easy.

Looking back, I realised that what really kept me stuck during that transition period wasn’t the lack of time, childcare, or opportunity.

It was the constant noise in my own head, the stories I told myself every day.

If I’d seen that sooner, stepping out of my comfort zone, learning new skills, and finding my direction would’ve felt far less overwhelming.

I’d have shown up with more confidence, more resilience, and I'd have had fewer “what am I even doing?” moments.

And honestly, that’s the real starting point when it comes to finding a job outside of teaching as a mum:

Get your head in the right place, and everything else will flow.

Well... that's great for you, Sarah, but how exactly do I get my head in the right place?

As a teacher mum, getting your head in the right place to leave teaching starts with recognising that many of the stories you tell yourself aren’t true.

Maybe you’ve said things like:

I’ll never find another job that fits around the school holidays.”

Or

I can’t afford to walk away from my teaching job, even if it’s breaking me.”

They feel true in the moment, don’t they? But in reality, they’re keeping you stuck — paralysing you.

If any of this sounds familiar, take a look at this mini-guide I created below:

The 5 stories keeping you stuck in the classroom (and how to break free!)

You'll learn how to spot the stories that are holding you back and find practical ways to move past them.
